Perpetual Soup - Drawing Series

These pen drawings are the first 2 in a series of 5. They are 30” x 22” on Stonehenge paper. Perpetual soup is the action of keeping a pot of soup on the stove at all times, constantly adding to it. Morsels from the previous soup are always left behind and incorporated into the new one. The first drawing, entitled My Ihram, took over 40 hours to create. It’s a reflection on different mental states during a period of time when I was desperate to create calm.
